Key Date from Estate Sale Collection

This authentic 1928 Peace Dollar was struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark) and forms part of a carefully assembled collection recently acquired from a private estate sale. It represents one of the most significant key dates in the entire Peace Dollar series (1921–1935).

Coin Specifications Year: 1928 Mint: Philadelphia (no mint mark) Mintage: Only 360,649 pieces – the lowest regular-issue mintage in the Peace Dollar series Composition: 90% Silver, 10% Copper (.900 fine silver) Weight: 26.73 grams Diameter: 38.10 mm Designer: Anthony de Francisci Obverse: Left-facing Liberty wearing a radiant crown, inscribed with “LIBERTY” and the year Reverse: Majestic eagle perched on a rock, clutching an olive branch, symbolizing peace following World War I Edge: Reeded

Historical Context and Rarity The Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 to commemorate the end of World War I and the nation’s desire for lasting peace. By 1928, silver reserves were limited and economic pressures were mounting just prior to the Great Depression. Consequently, production at the Philadelphia Mint was severely restricted, resulting in this coin’s exceptional scarcity.

Widely regarded as the “Holy Grail” of the Peace Dollar series, the 1928 issue is highly prized by collectors for its combination of low mintage, historical significance, and artistic design.

Condition Note This specimen comes directly from an estate sale collection. Condition varies across estate-found coins; please refer to the accompanying high-resolution photographs for a precise evaluation of surface quality, toning, and any marks.

Estate sale discoveries of this key date offer collectors an opportunity to acquire a genuine, historically important piece that may have been held in a private collection for decades.

This coin is offered as found from the estate, with no cleaning or alteration applied post-acquisition. Serious collectors and investors are encouraged to examine the detailed images provided.
